Goals Soccer Centres CEO Jones to leave

East Kilbride-based Goals Soccer Centres said its CEO Mark Jones “notified the board of his intention to resign from the board and the company as he has decided to take another role in the private sector.”

Goals said a search for a “strong” successor has already started.

Jones will continue in his role while a successor is sought.

“The board wishes to thank Mark for his contribution and wishes him well for the future,” said Goals.

Jones joined Goals as CEO in July 2016 following a turbulent year in which the firm’s share price lost more than half of its value.

Jones formerly worked at the Rank Group, where he was managing director of Grosvenor Casinos and sat on the company’s executive committee.

Before Rank, Jones held senior roles in the leisure industry including managing director of Mecca Bingo, chairman and CEO of Premium Bars and Restaurants, CEO of Yates Group, and various roles at Whitbread.
