Stirling-based construction and infrastructure firm Robertson Group said it delivered a 33% increase in turnover to £752 million and an 18% hike in profit before tax to £30.8 million in the year to March 2018.
Privately-owned Robertson said 56% of its turnover growth is attributed to large projects.
“Major construction projects continued to dominate turnover increase and activity; however, we have also seen good opportunity and development in most of our regional businesses including Construction/FM/Capital Projects/Housing, Timber Engineering and Civil Engineering,” said Robertson.
Robertson Major Projects is currently building the AECC — the new Exhibition and Conference Centre in Aberdeen — as contractor to Henry Boot Developments.
The AECC will have a completed value of around £330 million and will be the company’s largest single project to date.
The division recently completed the £140 million Macallan distillery project and is currently working with Boeing UK on a new £80 million facility which will house new P-8 sub maritime search planes for the RAF.
The division is also in the final stages of completing the new £64 million Balfour Hospital in Orkney.
Robertson recently signed a 30-year framework deal with Eastbourne and Lewes Council.
Robertson Facilities Management has taken over several ex-Carillion contracts which has seen the recruitment of 570 employees, taking the group total to more than 3,000.
“Housing across the market is becoming a larger and growing part of the Robertson business and our shareholders see this change as a further preparation for managing growth matching long-term plans for our business interests,” said Robertson.
“The new Residential Group expects to create a turnover of around £200 million in its first year.
“The shareholders and directors across both groups continue to take a long-term view of the market against our broad business offering.”
