Funds managed by Edinburgh-based investment giant Baillie Gifford have dominated the list of top 10 performing portfolios for 2020, according to data from FE Analytics.
Four of the Edinburgh partnership’s funds are listed in the top 10 performers including the Baillie Gifford American fund, listed as the best performing portfolio of 2020 with a 122% return.
It was followed by Morgan Stanley’s US Growth fund with a 110% return and the LF Access Long Term Global Growth portfolio with a 98% return.
Baillie Gifford’s Long Term Global Growth came fourth with a 96% return, its Positive Change fund came fifth with 80%, and its Global Discovery fund came eighth with 77%.
Baillie Gifford’s assets under management have soared in the past year — from around £197 billion in March to almost £300 billion near the end of the year.
The partnership’s high-profile funds are major shareholders in prominent global companies including Tesla, Amazon, Tencent, Netflix and Alibaba.
