Grangemouth’s Nicholson is new UK harbour president

Ashley Nicholson

Ashley Nicholson of Forth Ports has been appointed president of the UK Harbour Masters Association (UKHMA).

Nicholson is the first female to hold the title and the youngest certificated Harbour Master in the UK to hold the role with the UKHMA.

Nicholson has worked for Forth Ports for nearly 12 years and has been the senior harbour master in Grangemouth since 2017.

Grangemouth handles almost a third of Scotland’s gross domestic product.

Nicholson said: “I am honoured to hold the title of president of the UKHMA and I will strive to continue the excellent work of my predecessors in representing the harbour masters of the UK and encourage and grow the association whilst continuing to provide a valuable return to the Harbour Mastering community.”
