Aberdeen Investments announced the appointment of Parker Wertz as chief financial officer for the group’s asset management business — and also unveiled two senior leadership appointments to support its regional growth ambitions in Europe and Asia Pacific.

Wertz will report jointly to Xavier Meyer, Chief Executive Officer, Investments, and Siobhan Boylan, Group Chief Financial Officer of Aberdeen plc.

“With more than 20 years of experience across finance and corporate strategy, Parker brings deep financial and operational expertise to Aberdeen,” said Aberdeen Investments.

“He joins from BNY where he held dual roles as Head of Finance for BNY International and Chief Financial Officer at Newton Investment Management, where he supported strategic growth initiatives and global expansion.

“Earlier in his career, Parker held senior roles at Deutsche Bank and Bank of America Merrill Lynch in various capacities across banking, corporate strategy and chief operating office.”

Boylan said: “Parker brings an outstanding combination of strategic and financial leadership, alongside deep experience across global asset management and financial services. His appointment strengthens our leadership team as we continue to build more resilient and growth‑oriented business for clients and shareholders.”

Wertz said: “I am delighted to join Aberdeen at such an important point in its evolution. The strength of the platform, the quality of talent across the organisation and the clear strategic focus present a compelling opportunity.

“I look forward to working closely with the leadership team to support sustainable growth and long‑term value creation for the Group and the Investments business.”

Aberdeen Group manages and administers about £560 billion of client and customer assets across its three core businesses — interactive investor, Adviser and Investments.

Alongside Wertz ’s appointment, Aberdeen also announced two senior leadership appointments in Europe and Asia Pacific.

Steven Maguire has been appointed Chief Operating and Transformation Officer, Asia Pacific.

“Steven joins Aberdeen from Prudential plc, bringing deep experience across strategy, transformation, market growth in wealth across Asia Pacific,” said the group.

“Most recently he served as Global Head of Technology for the Technology Product Portfolio and held senior leadership roles spanning group strategy and business transformation.

“He is based in Singapore and reports to Alain Courbebaisse, Chief Operating Officer – Investments, and Ian Macdonald, Chief Executive Officer, Asia Pacific.”

Further, David Hanzl has been appointed General Manager/ Chief Operating Officer, Germany. Based in Frankfurt.

Hanzl will report to Mandy Rawlinson, Head of UK and EMEA. He will relocate from Hong Kong, where he previously served as Head of Wholesale, Asia Pacific at Aberdeen Investments.

Aberdeen Investments CEO Xavier Meyer said: “We are delighted to welcome Parker and Steven to Aberdeen, and to congratulate David on his promotion.

“These are three important appointments that significantly enhance our leadership bench. Together, they accelerate our ability to scale efficiently, drive operational excellence and position the Investments business for long‑term global growth across Asia and Europe.

“Structural Emerging Markets under-ownership persists, having lagged MSCI World since 2012, leaving investor positioning misaligned with fundamentals.

“Emerging markets represents a growing share of global GDP, together with a larger corporate universe than developed markets. Steven’s appointment illustrates our firm ambition to grow this franchise further.”
