Build A Rocket Boy appoints administrators

Leith-based Build A Rocket Boy, the independent video game developer and publisher and maker of the MindsEye game, has appointed administrators.

Build A Rocket Boy is led by video game industry veteran Leslie Benzies.

A September 25 filing by the company at Companies House said: “Appointment of an administrator … This document is being processed and will be available in 10 days.”

Also at Companies House, accounts for the year to September 3, 2025, are published.

In those accounts, Build A Rocket Boy said: “Given the Group’s early revenue stage and continued focus on game development, the directors consider the key financial performance indicators to include sustainable revenue generation, disciplined cost planning and monitoring, and effective cash-flow management.

“For the period ended 30 September 2025, the group generated £4.6m (2024: £11.5k) in revenue and had total operating costs of £52.1m (2024: £63.2m), cash held totalled £19.4m (2024: £52m) at the Balance Sheet date.

“The Group continues to prioritise cash-runway visibility, strong financial controls, and the consistent delivery of game updates. All other financial metrics are presented in the financial statements.”
