Aberdeen Investments said it has appointed Becky Nichols as Head of Global & Alternative Consultant Partnerships, a newly created role designed to deepen relationships with the firm’s most strategically important global and alternative consultant firms.
“Becky joined the company 16 years ago and has held a range of distribution, product and corporate leadership roles across the UK and US,” said Aberdeen.
“Prior to joining the company, she worked as an investment consultant, bringing first-hand experience of the sector.
“The appointment reflects Aberdeen’s evolving approach to consultant engagement, building on the success of its Global Financial Institutions (GFI) model, which combines strong regional coverage with dedicated global leadership focused on executive engagement, strategic partnerships and enterprise-wide coordination.”
Separately, Aberdeen has formally confirmed Eric Bruce as Head of Global Financial Institutions.
“Eric has played a leading role in establishing the firm’s global GFI model and strengthening relationships with key strategic partners over the past year,” said the firm.
John McCareins, Chief Client Officer at Aberdeen Investments, said: “Consultants remain one of the most influential groups in our industry, helping shape how institutional investors, insurers, wealth managers and other clients assess investment managers and allocate capital.
“As consultant firms become increasingly global and interconnected, we see significant opportunities to strengthen our partnerships through deeper executive engagement, better coordination across regions and a more strategic approach to relationship management.
“Becky brings a rare combination of consultant experience, commercial leadership and deep knowledge of Aberdeen. This new role underlines our commitment to the consultant community and strengthens our ability to work with our most important partners around the world as we continue to grow our business across institutional, wealth, insurance and private markets channels.”
Nichols said: “Today’s consultant firms increasingly operate across regions and client segments, creating new opportunities for more strategic and globally coordinated partnerships. They are hugely important to our business and play a critical role in helping shape outcomes for clients.
“The strongest relationships are two-way: consultants bring tremendous insight into their clients and the challenges they are trying to solve, while we bring perspectives from across different client segments, markets and investment capabilities.
“As opportunities grow across wealth, insurance and alternatives, I’m excited about bringing that expertise together to develop solutions, deepen relationships across our businesses and build long-term partnerships that ultimately deliver better outcomes for clients.”
Bruce said: “Forging ever closer relationships with Global Financial Institutions is a key element in Aberdeen’s strategy to make sure we maximise the value and benefit Aberdeen represents to Global Financial Institutions. This builds significant opportunities for Aberdeen to provide relevant investment solutions which meet client needs.
“As the consultant landscape continues to evolve, we see growing opportunities to develop broader strategic partnerships that go beyond traditional manager research and ratings activity. Financial institutions are increasingly looking for partners that can support them across markets, regions and client segments.
“We’ve built strong momentum over the past year by taking a more coordinated global approach, and I look forward to continuing that work. By combining our global capabilities with strong local relationships, we can identify new opportunities, deepen strategic partnerships and help our clients and partners meet their long-term objectives.”
Nichols and Bruce will form part of a centre of expertise within Aberdeen’s Client Group focused on commercial opportunities, strategic partnerships and business enablement across consultant and financial institution channels Both roles will report to Andrew Paul, Chief COO, Client Group.
