Dundee’s Waracle acquires Inov8 of Edinburgh

Dundee-based digital product consultancy Waracle has agreed to acquire Inov8, an Edinburgh-based cloud and data services consultancy.

Backed by BGF (British Growth Fund), Waracle also has offices in London, Glasgow, Edinburgh and Sofia.

Waracle designs and engineers digital products across financial services, health, energy and the public sector — delivering digital products in collaboration with clients such as People’s Partnership, Roche, SP Energy Networks, Royal London and others.

The acquisition pairs the 300-strong team at Waracle with Inov8 Consulting’s team of 28, which specialises in cloud services, data services and artificial intelligence.

Waracle, originally an Abertay University spin-out, aims to grow from nearly 300 to 500 people working across the UK and Bulgaria.

Founded in 2011 by Brian Graham, Inov8 Consulting has a reputation for data management and data consulting in modern cloud infrastructure, paired with a developer-first culture.

This acquisition helps Waracle further bolster its Data and AI credentials, after the strategic appointments of David Low as Chief AI Officer and James Poulten as Head of Data and AI in 2025.

The deal follows Waracle’s acquisition of HackSoft, a software engineering operation in Sofia, Bulgaria, alongside another strong year of organic growth.

“We are incredibly excited to bring Inov8 into Waracle,” said Waracle CEO David Tuck.

“We worked really hard to find a Data and AI consultancy that matched not only our ambitions, but also our values and culture.

“Since early 2025, as part of our strategic initiatives, we have focused on growing our Data and AI Practice. We have made massive strides over the last 18 months, and the talent within Inov8 will help us further our ambitions across both.”

Brian Graham, founder and CEO of Inov8, said: “Joining Waracle is a fantastic opportunity for Inov8 to demonstrate their depth of skills in Data & AI with Waracle’s scale and reach across financial services, energy and public sector.

“We have always strived to deliver innovative solutions to client problems and build truly collaborative relationships as we do …

“We have spent a lot of time with David and other members of the Waracle leadership team getting to know them and the business. We know that joining forces at this moment will provide a great opportunity to be part of Waracle’s continued growth.”

Waracle’s turnover grew by about 30% in 2025 with pre-tax profits of nearly £2 million.
