Weir, Glasgow mining behemoth, hires ESCO president

Weir Group, the Glasgow-based global mining and engineering FTSE 100 firm, announced that Brian Doffing has been appointed as President of its ESCO Division following Sean Fitzgerald’s recent retirement.

Doffing will join Weir on September 28, 2026, and become a member of the group executive.

“Brian has over two decades of experience in the mining and industrials sectors with a proven track record of leading global technology-focused businesses,” said Weir.

“He joins from Alamo Group Inc., a global manufacturer of high-quality industrial and vegetation management equipment, where he is the Group Vice President, Excavators and Vacuum Trucks and leads a portfolio of businesses serving infrastructure and industrial markets.

“Brian previously spent eight years at Epiroc in a variety of senior roles including Global Vice President, OreBody Solutions, President, Greater China and President, Surface and Exploration Drilling Division.

“Brian also held senior management roles at Atlas Copco, the multinational industrials business headquartered in Sweden, prior to the split that created the Epiroc business.

“A US citizen, Brian has extensive international experience having worked in China and Sweden as well as Singapore and Peru. On joining Weir, he will be based in Portland, USA.”
