Wood Group buys Houston-based Ingenious

Aberdeen-based oil and gas services giant Wood Group has made its second acquisition this week by buying Houston, Texas-based Ingenious Inc., a supplier of software and consulting services to the chemical, oil & gas and energy industries.

Wood Group said the acquisition provides a strong manufacturing operations management (MOM) systems capability that builds on the capabilities of Wood Group Mustang’s automation and control business.

Founded in 2000 by Vibhu Sharma and Bharat Kamdar, Ingenious “provides consulting and engineering services to support software sales and non-software-related services such as process engineering, design and simulation, and process safety management.”

Ingenious also has an office in Mumbai, India to service clients in Asia and the Middle East.

“The capabilities Ingenious provides will enhance the scale and breadth of our automation and control business,” said Michele McNichol, Wood Group Mustang CEO.

“Wood Group Mustang has been a client and reseller of Ingenious’s products. Together, we can pursue projects that neither could explore independently.”

On April 5,  Wood Group said it acquired SVT Engineering Consultants (SVT) of Perth, Australia in what it desribed as a “significant step … in providing a global vibration, dynamics and noise (VDN) engineering service line.”
