Swiss bank hires in Scotland, North of England

Swiss private bank Julius Baer, which is opening new offices in Manchester, Leeds and Scotland, said a number of new key hires have joined the business with more executives due to join over the coming months.

Julius Baer said its new premises will be opening in Leeds and Manchester this year and in Scotland early next year.

The team covering the North East of England will be based in the Platform building located in the centre of Leeds, and office space for the North West has been confirmed at Booths Park in Knutsford, Manchester.

The office location in Scotland is to be confirmed but will provide Julius Baer with a platform for Scotland and Northern Ireland.

“Entrepreneurial flair and wealth generation across the UK and Ireland is strong and Julius Baer is well positioned to provide individuals with a wide range of investment solutions managed by an experienced team of local relationship managers and wealth planners,” said the Swiss bank.

Key hires include:

Martin Cuthbert joins as a team head and will be responsible for the team covering the North East of England. Cuthbert joins from Barclays Wealth, where as regional director he established the Barclays Wealth North East franchise.

Gordon Scott joins as head of the teams covering the North West of England, Scotland and Northern Ireland and will be based in Scotland. He joins from Barclays where he was regional head, and before that he held a similar role at Kleinwort Benson.

James Bailey, the senior relationship manager in the Baer Manchester office, joins from Barclays Wealth where he was responsible for key clients across the North West of England, specialising in Ultra High Net Worth individuals.

Glenn Branney joins as regional head of wealth planning, reporting to Baer’s UK and Ireland head of wealth planning Alan Hooks. Branney is an accomplished chartered financial planner with 17 years’ advisory experience, most recently at Barclays Wealth.

Jonathan Dobbin has extensive experience building up a franchise in Northern Ireland and joins Baer as a senior relationship manager from Barclays Wealth.

Mark Embley has 25 years’ experience, with the last 10 years advising key clients and family offices on their wealth requirements at Barclays Wealth. Embley joins Baer us as a relationship manager covering the Midlands region.

Charlie Hague, a relationship manager, has 17 years’ experience advising high net worth families from Yorkshire and London on behalf of Barclays and Kleinwort Benson.

Andrew Miller joins Baer as a senior relationship manager bringing 25 years of experience from Barclays Wealth. Andrew will be covering the North East of England region with a particular focus on Newcastle and the surrounding area.

Simon Patterson is part of Baer’s North East team and is responsible for covering Newcastle and the surrounding area. He joins from Barclays Wealth where he was responsible for advising families, trusts and charities in the region.

Two of Baer’s existing relationship managers based in London, Jonathan Holland and Robert Websdale, will relocate to Manchester.
