Wood Group hires Babcock boss David Lockwood

John Wood Group, the Aberdeen-based global engineering and consulting giant, announced that Babcock International Group CEO David Lockwood will join the firm as a non-executive director on March 12, 2024.

Wood’s chair described Lockwood as an “innovative leader who has led large-scale company transformations” during his career.

“David brings over 35 years of experience from across global engineering and technology companies,” said Wood.

“He is currently Chief Executive Officer of Babcock International Group PLC, a FTSE 250 aerospace and defence company, a position he has held since September 2020.

“David was previously CEO of Cobham plc, a British aerospace and defence company.

“Prior to that, he was CEO of Laird plc, a British technology company, from 2012 to 2016. His career also includes senior management roles at BT Global Services, BAE Systems and Thales Corporation.

“David has a degree in Mathematics from the University of York and is a chartered accountant. He is a Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society and the Royal Society of Arts and Commerce.”
