Hawick-based Emtelle, a global manufacturer of duct, fibre optic cables and “pre-connectorised solutions” said it has concluded a strategic deal to produce Emtelle fibre optic core in Indonesia, strengthening its global manufacturing capacity and supply-chain network.
Emtelle, which employs 800 people worldwide, with manufacturing facilities in UK, US, Germany, UAE and Denmark, has now commenced the manufacture of Emtelle natural fibre in Indonesia.
“Under this initiative, Emtelle will produce an additional 5.5 million fibre kilometres (FKM),” said the firm.
“This fibre will support the production of Emtelle’s fibre optic product portfolio and will also be supplied to select customers in the United States and Europe, supporting Emtelle’s growing demand across these key markets.
“This investment reinforces the company’s commitment to delivering high-quality, reliable fibre solutions such as IBR, Ribbon, Loose Tube Cables and pre-terminated product ranges at scale. The Indonesian initiative will play a critical role in ensuring continuity of supply, consistent quality, increasing available capacity and providing greater flexibility to satisfy key Global customer’s requirements.”
Emtelle Group CEO Tony Rodgers said: “The drawing of fibre in Indonesia is yet another milestone moment in the story of Emtelle. As global fibre demand continues to accelerate and supply tightens, Emtelle’s investment in fibre drawing capacity significantly strengthens its ability to stay ahead of anticipated market constraints.”
Jonathan MacLean, Emtelle Chief Supply Chain Officer, said: “Fibre supply looks to be the most significant supply chain bottle neck in the industry across 2026, this deal positions Emtelle ahead of our competition in our ability to control and manage our ever-evolving demands across the telco FTTX and our data centre sectors.”
Gavin Faulds, Emtelle Chief Commercial Officer, said: “Supporting our customers with reliable supply of fibre optic cables and pre-terminated solutions is central to how we enable faster, simpler network deployment. Our focus is on quality, availability, and making fibre rollouts easier at every stage.”
