Wm Grant hires ex-Macallan MD as chief brand officer

Scottish whisky giant William Grant & Sons has confirmed the appointment of Igor Boyadjian — a former managing director of The Macallan and a member of the Edrington Board — as Chief Brand Officer and executive board member at William Grant, effective June 1, 2026.

William Grant’s drinks brands include The Famous Grouse, Glenfiddich, The Balvenie, Grant’s, Drambuie and Hendrick’s gin.

“Igor assumes responsibility for the Global Marketing Team, working closely with markets and commercial teams to drive clarity, consistency and momentum in how the company’s brands show up across regions and channels,” said William Grant.

“He will also lead global brand strategy and marketing execution, ensuring that the ambition for the company’s brands is translated into impact on the ground through close collaboration with markets.

“Igor brings extensive experience leading premium and luxury brands globally, most recently as Managing Director of The Macallan and a member of the Edrington Board.

“Across a career spanning 25 years in the drinks industry, he has held leadership roles with significant brand, commercial and general management responsibilities.

“He also has extensive experience in international markets including Asia, the Americas, The Middle East, Africa, and Global Travel Retail.”

For the year ending December 31, 2024, William Grant & Sons reported a 6.5% decline in turnover to £1.834 billion, with profit before tax down 30% to £388 million.

William Grant & Sons last year completed its acquisition of The Famous Grouse, Naked Malt and affiliated brands from Edrington subsidiary The 1887 Company. The deal was announced in September 2024. Glasgow-based Edrington is also the owner of The Macallan, Highland Park and The Glenrothes.
