Investment firm Quilter said it hired Bambos Hambi from Aberdeen Standard Investments to be chief executive officer of Quilter Investors.

London-based Quilter manages investments of £95.3 billion.

“Hambi brings a wealth of experience, including over 30 years in fund selection, joining from Aberdeen Standard Investments where he was Head of Multi-Manager Strategies and led one of largest fund selection teams in the UK,” said Quilter.

“Prior to this he held various multi-manager roles at other firms, and during the early part of his career he spent a decade at Quilter.

“He will join towards the end of the year and take over from Paul Simpson who is retiring.”

Quilter CEO Paul Feeney said: “I’m delighted Bambos is joining Quilter Investors.

“His skill and experience in manager and fund selection further strengthens our investment capability as we continue to build exceptional investment solutions that deliver for clients and advisers.

“He will succeed Paul Simpson who is retiring after a long and distinguished career and I am immensely grateful for Paul’s contribution to building Quilter Investors.”

Hambi said: “Having worked for Quilter at the beginning of my career it feels wonderful to be coming full circle and I’m thrilled I can be involved in the next phase of Quilter Investors growth.”

Standard Life Aberdeen said: “Bambos Hambi has decided to step down as Head of Multi Manager Strategies (MMS) to take up a new role as CEO of Quilters Investors.

“The MMS team consists of sixteen investment professionals.

“The leadership team of Simon Wood, Head of Research, Joe Wiggins, Head of Portfolio Management, Katie Trowsdale, Senior Investment Manager, and Dee Jones, Head of MMS Investment Platform, will assume full responsibility for all day-to-day portfolio management.

“Due to his team oversight role Bambos had reduced his day to day portfolio management responsibilities and was directly involved as co-manager in four of the fourteen ranges managed by the team.

“For portfolios where Bambos was a named joint Portfolio Manager his responsibilities will be fully assumed by the current co-managers; Katie Trowsdale for the MyFolio Managed and Multi-Manager ranges and Joe Wiggins for the MyFolio Market and MyFolio Index ranges.

“Bambos, and the team, reported to Robert McKillop Global Head of Product & Clients Solutions.

“With immediate effect the MMS leadership team will, in the short term, report directly into Robert along with the team’s other Senior Investment Managers.”

Robert McKillop, Global Head of Product & Clients Solutions at Aberdeen Standard Investments, said: “Bambos will leave with our thanks for his support for the Multi-Manager Solutions capability and his overall contribution to the organisation over the last nine years.

“We wish him well in his new role.

“We have one of the strongest multi-manager teams in the industry.

“The continuity in portfolio management and leadership structure will ensure there is no impact on the management of the portfolios.

“The team’s proven investment process remains unchanged and will continue to leverage the deep resources of the wider business.”
