Standard Life said it has appointed former NatWest-RBS executive Wendy Redshaw as its first ever Group Chief Digital & Technology Officer.
Redshaw will join Standard Life “in the coming months.”
In the role, which reports to group CEO Andy Briggs, Redshaw will sit on Standard Life’s group executive committee and will play “a fundamental role in delivering the strategy and building an even stronger business for the years ahead.”
“The role will bring together Standard Life’s technology, digital, data, security and AI capabilities to help deliver better outcomes for customers, make it easier for people to engage with their financial futures and support the company’s growth ambitions,” said Standard Life.
“Wendy brings extensive experience leading digital and technology transformation across global banks, most recently as NatWest Group’s Chief Digital Information Officer for Retail, where she built an impressive career leading large-scale technology, digital and transformation teams.
“She brings deep knowledge and will use her experience to drive innovation and deliver business growth.
“Wendy will lead the Enterprise Technology function, helping Standard Life strengthen the capabilities that support millions of customers, enable greater innovation and deliver the scale needed to achieve its ambition of becoming the UK’s leading retirement savings and income business.”
CEO Briggs said: “Technology, data and AI are increasingly important in helping us support customers throughout their journey to and through retirement.
“Wendy’s experience in leading large-scale digital transformation programmes will help us build on the strong foundations we’ve put in place and continue improving the ways we serve customers and deliver better outcomes.”
Redshaw said: “I’m really excited to join Standard Life at such an important moment in its journey. What really stands out to me is the combination of a clear purpose, a strong sense of ambition and a genuine focus on customers.
“I’m looking forward to building on the strong foundations already in place. There’s a huge opportunity ahead, and I’m excited to be part of a business that is actively supporting their customers on the journey to and through retirement.”
