Highland Fuels buys Carnegie Fuels for growth

Inverness-based Highland Fuels, which is employee-owned, said it has acquired Brechin-based Carnegie Fuels after “an extensive sale process.”

As part of the transaction, Carnegie Fuels will continue to operate under its established name and management structure, with Ryan Carnegie appointed as a director and Kevin and Rosie Carnegie supporting a smooth transition.

“This is a very positive step for both businesses and for the communities we serve,” said Stephen Rhodes, Managing Director at Highland Fuels.

“We’re honoured to be continuing the Carnegie legacy and welcoming the team into the Highland Fuels family. This partnership is built on shared values and a commitment to long-term success.”

Employees of Carnegie Fuels will now become part of the employee-owned organisation.

“As beneficiaries of the Highland Fuels Employee Trust, Carnegie Fuels staff will have the opportunity to directly contribute to, and benefit from, the ongoing success of the expanded business,” said Highland Fuels.

“This transaction lays a strong foundation for operational continuity and sustainable growth, delivered with a focus on people, communities, and service excellence.

“Highland Fuels and Carnegie Fuels share a deep-rooted commitment to professionalism, integrity, and reliability.

“By uniting the strengths of Highland Fuels and Carnegie Fuels, customers can be confident in a trusted energy partner that is well equipped to meet Scotland’s evolving energy needs — today and into the future.”

Kevin Carnegie said: “We have spent many long hours over the years building Carnegie Fuels excellent reputation of providing a first class, reliable service from a company that our customers know they can trust.

“When faced with the difficult decision on what best to do to secure the long term future of Carnegie Fuels, it was extremely important to me that we continued to provide the same, if not better, service than we have always strived for.

“I am confident that Highland Fuels has a similar ethos to ours and with Ryan remaining at the helm of Carnegie Fuels it will very much be business as usual, hopefully enhanced, with both employees and customers benefiting from the combined strength of both brands.”
