STV announces more board changes

Glasgow media firm STV Group plc has announced more changes on its board.

Non-executive director Aki Mandhar has stepped down from the board with immediate effect to pursue her executive career.

Mandhar has served on the STV board for nearly five years since her appointment in early 2021.

Non-executive director Colin Jones has confirmed he will not stand for re-election at the company’s 2026 Annual General Meeting and will resign from the board at that time.

“In anticipation of this, Colin will step down as Senior Independent Director and as a member of the Nomination Committee with immediate effect but will continue as Chair of the Audit & Risk Committee to ensure a full and orderly transition until his departure next year,” said STV.

Gillian Kent is appointed as non-executive director and succeeds Colin Jones as Senior Independent Director, with immediate effect.

“Gillian has extensive experience as a non-executive director and remuneration committee chair,” said STV.

“She is currently Senior Independent Director and Remuneration Committee Chair, Designate, of Crest Nicholson Holdings plc, Non-Executive Director and Chair of the Risk Committee of THG plc, Non-Executive Director and Chair of the Remuneration Committee of Mothercare Plc.

“Previously, she has held non-executive roles with Marlowe plc, Dignity plc, SIG Plc, Ascential Plc, National Accident Helpline Group Plc (NAHL Plc) and Pendragon Plc.

“Gillian’s executive career spans more than 25 years in digital and technology-led business.

“She was Chief Executive of Propertyfinder, the real estate portal, and spent 15 years with Microsoft, including three years as Managing Director of MSN UK.  She has extensive experience in scaling digital platforms, building markets and high-impact consumer brands and delivering strategic and operational transformation.”

On November 19, STV Group said chairman Paul Reynolds stepped down as planned and has been succeeded by corporate veteran Clive Whiley.

On September 25, STV revealed a first half loss before tax of £200,000 for the six months to June 30, 2025, compared to a profit of £4.8 million for the same period of the prior year, and started a “comprehensive cost savings programme.”

STV also announced plans on September 25 to replace its central belt and north of Scotland news with a single programme presented from Glasgow.
