Weir, Glasgow mining behemoth, hires minerals boss

Marc Cameron

Weir Group, the Glasgow-based global mining and engineering FTSE 100 firm, announced the appointment of former Caterpillar executive Marc Cameron as President of its Minerals Division.

Cameron will join Weir on October 26, 2026, and become a member of the Group Executive.

“Marc brings more than 25 years of leadership experience spanning mining operations, heavy equipment, technology-led solutions and global commercial roles,” said Weir.

“Most recently, he was Senior Vice President, Resource Industries at Caterpillar Inc., where he led the global commercial organisation and drove growth through integrated, customer-focused solutions and services.

“He also led the expansion of Caterpillar’s portfolio of data-driven mining technology and software solutions.

“Before joining Caterpillar in 2020, Marc spent almost two decades with Rio Tinto where he held a number of senior operational and leadership roles.

“These included Managing Director, Rio Tinto Kennecott and President and Chief Operating Officer of the Diavik Diamond Mine.

“Across these roles, he led large, integrated mining operations with responsibility for safety, operational performance, strategy development and execution, and talent development.”

Originally from New Brunswick, Canada, Cameron will be based in Fort Worth, US, when he joins Weir.

Weir CEO Andrew Neilson said: “I am delighted to welcome Marc to Weir. His deep mining operations experience, combined with his global commercial and technology expertise, gives him a strong understanding of our customers and the challenges they face.

“I am confident that Marc will build on Minerals’ leading technology portfolio and close customer relationships to accelerate growth.”
