Celtic plc said on Monday it has “decided to terminate the contract” of manager Wilfried Nancy, with immediate effect, after only 33 days in the job and six losses in just eight matches.
Celtic also confirmed that Paul Tisdale has left his position as “Head of Football Operations.”
Nancy’s assistants, Kwame Ampadu, Jules Gueguen and Maxime Chalier will also be leaving the club.
On December 17, Celtic said that non-executive chairman Peter Lawwell “has decided to step down from the board of Celtic plc with effect from December 31, 2025” with Lawwell citing “abuse and threats.”
Celtic plc shares fell about 4% to around £1.91. Celtic shares are up about 16% for the past year, giving the firm a stock market value of roughly £182 million.
“A further update will be provided to supporters as soon as is practical,” said the company.
In a stock exchange statement, Celtic plc added: “The process of appointing Celtic’s replacement manager is already underway, and an update will be communicated by the club in due course.”
Celtic’s principal shareholder is Irish businessman Dermot Desmond.
On September 19, Celtic published its financial results for the year ended June 30, 2025, showing its revenue increased 15.2% to £143.6 million and profit before tax soared to £45.7 million from £17.8 million in the prior year.
